TOYS FROM THE 1970's
PAGE 7
My favorite type of Ultraman figures are called Zoki toys . What's "Zoki" ? you ask....?? Well in japanese it means cheap or inexpensive.
Many of these zoki toys were sold in subway or train stations. So they are also known as "train station" toys. Most of these toys were bootleg or unlicensed. They were very cheap in price and sometimes quality. But, I've been hooked on them since I first saw some in the Yuji Nishimura Vinyl Treasure book. They have a very retro look to them...almost primative or child like in appearance....which i like ! Although they are not worth a lot..it's not easy to find them, either.
All are made of poly vinyl, and not vinyl....so they are very light in weight, and damage easily. And most are molded in silver or gold poly vinyl and are not painted. Very similar to the paint it your self Marusan poly vinyls.
The following pictures are what i believe to be the largest collection of Ultraman zoki figures.
Enjoy !
Right side: large 13 inch tall figures.
